VCH PRESENTS SERIES: The King’s Singers Live in Singapore in Two Concerts
One of the world’s greatest a capella ensembles is coming again to Singapore and the Victoria Concert Hall is excited to play host to it in two concerts in Feb 2018.
Acclaimed for their life-affirming virtuosity and irresistible charm, The King’s Singers have been in demand all over the world since their inception nearly five decades ago. In 1968, the original six King’s Singers came together through their shared love of singing and quickly became renowned for their mesmerising performances and the unique diversity of their music. Two Grammy® Awards, an Emmy® Award, and a place in Gramophone magazine’s inaugural Hall of Fame are among the many accolades bestowed on this globally renown group.
In 1968, the first King’s Singers were formed with two countertenors, a tenor, two baritones and a bass and the group has never wavered from this line-up since. The current line-up comprises Patrick Dunachie (countertenor), Timothy Wayne-Wright (countertenor), Julian Gregory (tenor), Christopher Bruerton (baritone), Christopher Gabbitas (baritone) and Jonathan Howard (bass) – six dashing young men who promise to charm and enthral you with vocal delights.
Gold 50: The King’s Singers
From the rich polyphony of sacred renaissance music to familiar tunes you hum to, the Gold concert charts a journey through the music that has defined their career over the last 50 years, and moves on to exciting and unexplored musical worlds. An alchemy of ancient and modern, serious and light-hearted, expected and unexpected. Gold crowns half a century of dedication to music, and looks ahead with unbridled energy to the next 50 years and beyond.
The King’s Singers with The Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir
The Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir will join the King’s Singers in a very special collaboration and performance that includes the world premiere of British composer and former King’s Singer Bob Chilcott’s We Are as part of their 50th Anniversary celebrations.
